The first public consultation in Sumy ended and citizens determined the location of the Wi-Fi access point.
On September 7, a briefing was held with the participation of authorities, citizens and the media. Sumy citizens chose where to set up a free Internet access zone.
There were 5 suggestions on the website “Your opinion”, from which residents had to select only one. In total, nearly 300 people took part in the public poll.
“The most popular point of free Wi-Fi for the cities is the recreation park named by Kozhedub, which is important for us. Citizens are interested in participation tools that allow them to influence the local authorities on making decisions regarding a large number of Sumy citizens. Therefore, as a city authority, we promote such measures, through which we will get a clear opinion of the community to which we listen”, – summed up the results Antonina Kokhan (director of the Department of Communications and Information Policy of Sumy City Council).
In this recreation park local authorities should set up another one a free Internet access zone, and according to the head of the Information Technologies and Computer Support Department Victor Belomar, there are 24 such zones in Sumy. According to preliminary information, a new point to the Wi-Fi network will be arranged in November.
Speaking about the tool of public consultations and resource “Your opinion”, the coordinator of the “Active Community” of the Institute Respublica Mykhailo Gorkusha noted that residents can choose one of the options for the answer and determine the priority of one or another variant using this web resource.
Recall that in July the Memorandum of Cooperation between Sumy City Council and the Institute Respublica was signed.
