The All-Ukrainian action of planting trees “Walkway of Free People” took place in different cities around Ukraine on October 13th. Over 400 active citizens planted over 630 trees in 16 cities. The action took place on the eve of the Defender of Ukraine Day and combined the efforts of passionate citizens to thank the Ukrainian military and volunteers defending the security of our country on a daily basis. It also aimed at creating green spaces in cities and serving as a symbol of the will and responsibility of citizens: the trees need to be cared for, watered, for them to grow big and delight the eye of local residents.

The “Walkway of Free People” in Kyiv. In the Obolon district of the capital city, the team of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community” and the organization’s friends planted 18 seedlings, including sakura, laburnum tree and tamarisk.

The youngest participating activist, named Sviat, was 2 years old. He, as a real man, has already planted his first tree!

In addition to the capital city, the action took place in 15 other cities of Ukraine. The events were organized by the regional coordinators of the All-Ukrainian Initiative “Active Community”. They were joined by local activists, journalists, military personnel, entrepreneurs, schoolchildren, students, officials and other active citizens.
