Activism is the driving force on the path to the development of a democratic society. The transformation processes, changes and reforms are taking place thanks to the involvement of citizens in the life of the country. All-Ukrainian Initiative \u201cActive Community\u201d works daily throughout Ukraine to achieve this goal and attract people to activism. Today’s success stories are from the pearl near the sea \u2013 glorious Odessa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna Ilyina, regional coordinator in Odessa<\/em>, says that for her, activism is not being indifferent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIf you can do it \u2013 then do it. You shouldn\u2019t wait for the right time or company to make your community better. It’s banal, but everything really starts with you\u201d<\/em>, – Hanna said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Anna Ilyina, \u201cActive Community\u201d in Odessa is gradually becoming a platform for the implementation of better initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is a place where you can improve your skills, get new knowledge, meet interesting people, tell your success story and take part in a new competition.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2020 two initiatives were launched in Odessa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The number of citizens who joined all initiative groups is about 40.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goals which were set by the initiative groups:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25cf replacement of windows with metal-plastic ones in the entrance;<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u25cf approval of the conditions for NGOs that provide socially significant services and conditions for preferential rent of premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result, letters for solving the issue have been sent, but due to the quarantine the proceedings are currently underway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, collective appeals have been sent, and a working group should be created to approve the lists for preferential rent and submit them to the city council. Representatives of local self-government bodies joined the action, and now they are helping to create a working group.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hanna Ilyina says that the best way to motivate people for taking an active part in the socio-political life of their community \/ city \/ country is to do +<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen you see how another community embodies what you only dream of, it becomes the best motivation. And the understanding that this is your country, and you are not a transit here, should already be the driving force that makes you an active citizen “,<\/em> – sums up the coordinator of All-Ukrainian Initiative \u201cActive Community\u201d in Odessa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note. The mission of the \u201cActive Community\u201d is to achieve prosperity through the democratic development of Ukrainian communities. The goal for the year 2025 is to activate and involve at least 1% of citizens in decision-making and promotion of reforms in Ukraine on a systemic basis for the well-being of Ukrainian communities. The initiative was created within the activities of the \u201cInstitute Respublica\u201d. We work to increase the conscious activity of citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
