The second public consultation completed in Kamianets-Podilskyi

A press conference was held at the press center of the city council on the results of the second public consultation in the city. It was held within the framework of the project “Roadmap for Government” from the All-Ukrainian initiative “Active Community” in cooperation with the Kamianets-Podilskyi City Council.

The press conference was organized by regional coordinators of the “Active Community” – Mykhailo Budurovych and Khrystyna Budurovych.

The second consultation of the authorities with the citizens concerned the renaming of Vatutin St., which is subject to the Law “On De-Communication”.

The inhabitants of Kamyanets-Podilskyi chose: “In honor of whom the Vatutina street should be renamed in Kamyanets-Podilskyi? “

Among the options:

  1. Petro Bolbocan
  2. Vasyl Slipak
  3. Leonid Kadenyuk
  4. Ivan Parik

The consultation lasted for a month – from November 26 to December 26. In the opinion of citizens, the Vatutin St. should be renamed to Vasyl Slipak Street. This variant gained the largest number of votes – 281. (According to Petro Bolbochan – 39, Leonid Kadenyuk – 56, and Ivan Parik – 19).

The coordinator of the “Active Community” Mikhailo Budurovych said during the press conference:

“We will also work on next consultations in 2019 and we are interested in making as many as possible city residents participate.”

Representatives of mass media, public activists, representatives of the city authorities and those who are keen on Kamyanchans took part in the press conference.

The project “Roadmap for Government” is being implemented with the support of the National Democratic Institute of International Relations.

He was a world-famous opera singer, soloist of the Paris National Opera, volunteer, a participant in the Revolution of Dignity and in the war in the East of Ukraine. Positive – “Myth”. Cavalier of the Order “For Courage” 1st degree and “Golden Star”, the Hero of Ukraine.

Vasyl Slipak is a pupil of the Lviv choral chapel “Dudaryk”. Since 1997 – soloist of the Paris National Opera, in 2004 – the participant of the Orange Revolution. From the first days of the Revolution of Dignity, he participated in protests against the Yanukovych regime, and from May 2014 he became an active participant in the fighting in the East of Ukraine.

On June 26, 2016, he was shot dead by a sniper DNR. He awarded the Golden Star of the Hero of Ukraine posthumously. Buried in his native city – Lviv.
